Missing Teen Returns Unharmed. Chicago Family Overjoyed - Recent article that shares a 'happy ending' to a missing person case that appeared in News in Black on January 9, 2012.

Note - Though this article recently published, the quotes used were taken from a 2005 interview and does not reflect that I am now former CEO/President of National Center for Missing Adults.

Good story Kym and glad to hear that Destiny is safe at home with her family.

I like your characterization of media coverage as favoring the damsel in distress. Personally, I see it not as much of an issue solely of race, but more of social capital. Those who have appeal to the press (physical appearance, societal status, wealth, etc.) are the cases that grab media attention.

Career Accomplishments

Founder of Nation's Missing Children Organization, Inc.in 1994 and created the National Center for Missing Adults in 2000. Served as CEO from 1994 until January 2010.

Began lobbying Congress in 1996 to fund the establishment of the first clearinghouse for missing adults. President Clinton signed a bill into law in 2000. Pasqualini’s agency was the recipient of Kristen’s Law funding.

Created the first clearinghouse of information for missing adult cases working directly with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies.

In cooperation with Fox Valley Technical College (FVTC), Pasqualini developed the first training for law enforcement specifically addressing the complex investigations of missing adult cases and improving community response. Funded through Bureau of Justice Assistance and the United States Department of Justice, training was provided to Chiefs of Police, Sheriffs and detectives throughout the country.
